Triptophan Thursday

As you all know, this coming Thursday is Thanksgiving. This Wednesday we will be holding our annual Senior/Faculty volleyball game. (As a side note, for those of you betting, smart money is on the faculty; they haven’t lost in living memory).

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner

We won!

Specifically, the boys’ varsity football team won. The first quarter of the game was all Fredericktown, as they quickly opened up a 14-0 lead. Our boys, however, refused to give up. The defense held Fredericktown scoreless for the rest of the game as the offense gradually put points on the board, finally pulling ahead with less than 30 seconds left on the clock. Well done, gentlemen!

In other football-related news, check out this story on a recent PHS grad: Brandon Bourbon

And since it’s been a while since I last posted, lets check out some pictures from the rescheduled Powder Puff game last Tuesday:

All in all, the week has been good to PHS.

Go Trojans!

Superman

Today (technically yesterday, since I’m writing this at 6:00 on Friday) was the penultimate day of spirit week, and was cartoon day. Unfortunately we had to postpone the Powder Puff game, but I hope to be able to hold the game on Tuesday next week. In the mean time, here’s a sample of the school spirit from Thursday:

The Arming of Infants

Here’s the second installment of the spirit week series. Today was a huge hit, with lots of people dressed as either babies or senior citizens. Let’s get even more out tomorrow for Cartoon Character day. And don’t forget, tomorrow evening is the PowderPuff game, the bonfire, and the weenie roast…

Spirit in the Sky

It’s spirit week again, and that means lots of pictures! As most of you know, I wasn’t here to see what everyone looked like on Monday, but I plan on posting regularly throughout the rest of the week. So here’s the first round of pictures from Rock Star Day:

Additionally, PTVB has just released Episode II. Be sure to stop by at their tab and take a look. They’re doing good work.

That’s My Daughter

I’ve never used this blog to disseminate personal information of any kind, but this might be worthy of an exception.

Meet the newest addition to the PHS family: Annaliese Olivia Hostetler.

She’s already in Potosi gear: the purple and gold bow is courtesy of Mrs. Burke.

Video Killed the Radio Star

Although it has not been widely discussed, several members of our student body, with the help of Mr. Fulton, have been working tirelessly to resurrect an old tradition: Potosi Trojan TV (PTTV). And although this tradition disappeared before anyone currently attending PHS entered the ninth grade, these few students have succeeded in bringing it back.

Paige Coleman, Megan Osbahr, and Tiffany Kwan are the writers, producers, camerawomen, reporters, and actors for the all new Potosi Trojan Video Broadcast, which will appear just prior to advisory every two weeks. Click on the picture below to enjoy the very first episode of PTVB, and check the tab at the top of the page for their biweekly updates.

It’s Been One Week

We have the first full week of school behind us, and it was a good one. For those of you counting, (e.g., Ms. Huff) that means we have 168 days left this year. Most students schedules are now more or less settled, and classes should be in full swing. How exciting :-)

As promised, I’m starting to get some pictures on here. What you see below is a combination of photographs taken by both me and LP, although hers are generally more impressive.

If pictures aren’t enough, you can also check out this video of what some of the fans were doing at the game:

Do It!

In addition to the football pictures on this post, I’ll keep working to gather images of all of the cool things are students are doing this fall, including volleyball, softball, cross country, and band. Additionally, this coming Friday, we have our first game home game of the year against Pacific, which means a pep rally during 7th hour. And lets be sure to remember Purple Pride Friday this week. We were looking a little weak last Friday. We’re better than that.

Until next time, Go Trojans!

We’ve Only Just Begun

Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen. PHS’s 102nd graduating class has begun their senior year, and the class of 2015 has finally made it to the high school. We’ve made it through our first couple of days and are about to begin our first full week of school, which means we have 173 days of school left. That sounds like so little :-)

I suspect many of you are still working through or waiting on schedule changes. We should be able to get everything sorted out for you this week so you can get down to the business of your classes. If you do have any questions, feel free to contact either me, Mr. McCue, or the counselors. We’ll do our best to help.

Our football team has already held Meet the Trojans and participated in the football Jamboree at Hillsboro. Lyndsey Portell tells me she has pictures of those, and I’ll get them posted as soon as I am able. In the mean time, our softball girls play their first three games this week (Tuesday @ St. Vincent, Wednesday @ Ste. Gen, and Thursday @ Central), our tennis team has its first match (Thursday at home against AV), and our football team plays their first regular season game at Owensville.

With any luck, between the yearbook staff and me, we’ll be able to keep you in pictures and updated with what’s going on.

Until then, Go Trojans.
